Scammer claimed to be a technician calling to report tat a previously installed security program was faulty and corrupted…offer to install new software, and as a goodwill gesture a refund of the purchase price.

Made the mistake of allowing him to take control of computer, and giving checking account number to deposit refund..refund was for 299, but 2990

was deposited..tech than began saying if I didn’t reurn the overage he would lose his job..wanted me to get 2 $1000.00 and a $500.00 gift card from Target or Walmart, and send him the numbers..I immediately checked my bank accounts and discovered that my refund had actually been tranferred out of another of my accounts. I immediately went to my bank and closed all my accounts, and opened new ones. When "Sam" called back I told him I thought this was a scam…his manager then got on tbe phone and said if I didn’t send half the money right then, and half the next day, they would permanently lo k out my computer..I.said that would be my money as I had no proof they had transferred anything. They then locked my computer..When I said I would just go buy another computer, the manager said they would still find me and lock me out.I hung up and took my computer to a specialist who said he would clean jp the computer
