Type of a scam Identity Theft

Selling a car on AutoTrader and was contacted via text. Sounded like a legit buyer w/some basic questions about the vehicle I was selling. After some back and forth the texter said he would come look at the car when I sent him/her the VCE. When I asked what that was he/she sent me a link to a vehicle check website. Instead of clicking on the link I Googled the website & found it to be a scam.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

I recently listed my car for sale on craigslist. I was contacted via text by a guy named “George”. He asked if there were any repairs that needed to be done to the vehicle. I responded and he then told me he had a couple days to buy a vehicle and mine made the most sense. He was interested in test driving the car but wanted a VECE report done first. I googled that and couldn’t find what it was so I then asked him. He gave me a link to vehiclecheckexperts.com When I went to the site it wanted me to pay Or a vehicle report and put a credit card in. I felt it was sketchy so I asked him if a Carfax would do. He informed me that he has used this site a few times and it was only $20 and much more lengthy than others, he trusted it and the other websites were useless. I then told him I would be happy to provide him with a Carfax and he never responded. I googled some information and found that this is a common scam lately I’m not sure if he was trying to get my credit card information or just get people to pay for the report so he makes money but either way it was definitely a scammy and I let him know I would be reporting it to ScamPulse.com he never responded
