Type of a scam Healthcare/Medicaid/Medicare

My mother received a telephone call from Universal MedSupports asking if she had back pain and/or leg and knee pain. She, being elderly, said yes. Then they proceeded to tell her that they would send her their Orthopaedics braces that would help her etc. They spoke fast and she agreed but immediately regretted it and felt taken advantage of.

A few days later she received a large box of six different braces (2 shoulder, some kind of sleeve, right & left knee braces, and a back brace). Immediately she called the Universal MedSupport and explained that these braces were of no use to her and she wanted to cancel them and return the products.

Universal MedSupports told her that they didn’t want them back and she should give them to someone who could use them. She explained that she did not want them and did not want Medicare billed for them and that she wanted to return them. They again told her that they don’t take returns.

Mom called Medicare and reported it to them. Medicare had already been billed from the company to the grand total of $3155. Medicare said for her to check back in a month.

This practice of Universal MedSupports seems to be unsavory or down right fraudulent.
