Type of a scam Government Grant

Received a message via Messenger from a friend about how she had received a lot of money being given away by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). She kept sending me messages urging me to participate in this benefit. I was dubious, but she is a trusted friend. So I contacted this agency using the phone number given me. It boils down to they will send you money for a fee. This immediately rang alarm bells, so I phoned my friend and she had never even heard about the UNDP. Turns out, I was talking to a fraudster who had intercepted my friend’s Messenger account. My friend had never seen any of my messages to her. So, be careful of what you share on social media, including Facebook’s Messenger. They need to improve the security of these platforms.
