Type of a scam Employment

Person contacted me stating they saw my resume on careerbuilder.com and wanted me to set up an interview for customer service position working from home. The only form of communication they wanted to use was google hangout. I contacted them via google hangout. They conducted an inteview via google hangout and stated they would contact me within a few hours with their decision. They contacted me and stated that they wanted to hire me. I filled out some paper work for new employment. They then said that they would be sending me a check to purchase equipment needed for the job, like a laptop and a printer. They sent me a check in the about of 1,950.00 with instructions to deposit it via moblie banking app and to contact them in the morning when the fund had cleared. I contacted them the next morning after it had cleared and they instructed me to transfer the money in the amount of 1,850.00 to their "vendor" which I did. Later they stated that "due to limitations on moblie deposits" they only initially sent me half of the amount and they would be sending me another check and to follow the same process as the last. This check was in the amount of 2,100.00. It all started to seem suspicious. So I found the company’s website and telephone number and verified the person i spoke with did not actually work for this company. I did not deposit the second check. But i will be held liable for the first check in the amount of 1,950.00
