Type of a scam Moving

None of the published physical addresses exist. They quoted a "binding, not to exceed" estimate, then charge 50% more AFTER loading the truck. After nine weeks of enduring their lies and broken promises of delivery, we decided to pick up the contents of our 2 bedroom condo ourselves. The move was to be from Georgia to Michigan, and it took a police report for "theft by deception" to compel them to disclose that our property was held in a personal mini storage unit in south Florida, and we had to get police assistance to get the "company" rep to open the door to the unit. The police are aware that such scams exist but are powerless against them. Hundreds of mover reviews online recount circumstances similar to ours, but in most of those cases, the property owners were not able (as we were) to retrieve their belongings, and were charged extra fees to get their stuff back. We have since heard from the FMCSA that Trans United’s DOT registration has been revoked (DOT #2957263). It is likely that they will just change their name and resume operations. There are several names on the internet that indicate that perhaps they have changed names before. Trans United, Inc., Trans United Movers, Trans United Van Lines. I would caution any potential customers to beware of this company.
