Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

I knew I did not owe any money for something I did not order; although they said I ordered about 6 months ago. I called the phone number and went to a place and gave them the account #. They could not find it. They asked to find the account by phone #. They could not find it. They asked for house #. They could not find the account. That is when I hung up; knowing by this time that this was a fake invoice; which I had thought all along. It pays to call and check before paying a "fake invoice".
