Type of a scam Employment

My 20 year old son went onto indeed.com to look for a job. He is living in NYC and received an email from Matthew Bates at Thewave Images for a Production Assistant for a Photo Shoot in Boston, MA. He was told that their travel agent would contact him to make arrangements for him to stay at Hilton Garden Inn at the Boston Airport. He would receive $500 for meals for the job that would last from Friday, September 1 – Sunday September 3. He would be paid $400 daily, and that both travel and hotel accommodation would be fully paid by Thewave Images. The emails were always "Hi" without a personal greeting. I assume they expect people to book through their pretend travel agent using their own credit card while being told they would be reimbursed and then you would never hear from them again.

I work as my son’s manager and I have become very cautious and capable of noticing scams. I researched the website – very generic with no pertinent information provided. The phone number provided was called and it only rings and continues unanswered. I called the hotel they claimed to be using for the photo shoot and I was told by them that they had received another phone call asking same questions. They have reported it to the local authorities.

Neither my son or I lost money because we did not continue email communication.

I hope this information keeps someone else from falling prey to their scam.
