Type of a scam Tech Support

A company called Techsvite (they state they are located in CA) subjects a Trojan horse virus on your computer – a popup with the phone number of 877-960-4041 appears with instructions to call for Microsoft support help. The unsuspecting victim calls and the company which again implies that they are Microsoft support and will clean your computer up, or that they are Microsoft support and will transfer you to someone to help. They remotely login and then rush the victim through a variety of forms they must sign, request your credit card number, and charge you $398. In my mom’s case, after she stated she could not afford that, they reduced the amount to $298. They never identified themselves as Techsvite.

I called Microsoft Support and they confirmed that they never transfer a call to an outside service, nor would they have a popup appear requesting you to call them.
