Type of a scam Tech Support

I went online 7/5 to get webroot security on my new computer. This company intercepted the request and presented themselves as webroot affiliates. I found out yesterday by Best Buy and again today from the actual Webroot company that this was a scam and there had been no purchase made for the product I ordered. My account was charged $249.99 for the home security. I had to go to Best Buy yesterday and purchase the actual security package I needed. I emailed Techaid but of course have not heard back and the representative at Webroot tells me I won’t. She said they have reported their fraudulent activities several times to no avail.

I received a call from a woman claiming to be from Tech Aid. She told me my computer had been sending error signals. She said every computer has an internal error reporting system. She asked me to press ctrl and r at the same time and then type eventvwr.

I didn’t continue because I knew it was a scam. I told her I knew what she was doing and she hung up on me.
