Type of a scam Phishing

I received a package from this company containing a pair of children’s slippers that I did not order. The order date was a day that I was on a long drive, so I could not have ordered the product. There was no gift note and the invoice identified me as the billing party. Under "Payment Type" appeared "Bill Me Later." I called up to inquire and was immediately asked for my name, zip code, address — at which point I got suspicious and asked if we could just do this by the "order number." The first operator hung up on me. The next operator said she had my information from my phone number and that I had to repeat it all to prove it was me. I hung up and called back from my cell phone. This time the operator agreed to look up the transaction by order number and stated that I ordered the product using PayPal. I do not use and have not activated the "Bill Me Later" feature of PayPal (I just confirmed this with PayPal). The company wanted $6.95 from me to return this unsolicited product, which would have required my giving them some form of payment information. I told them their slippers were going to be a charitable donation and hung up. The online reviews of Shoemall.com are generally bad, but there didn’t appear to be anyone else concerned about fraud or phishing. But this just didn’t feel right, so I’m reporting them.
