Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
A woman claiming the name Sandra Cowart contacted me through care.com for employment as a personal dog sitter. "She" sent me a check over $2,000, claimed she was moving to my area from California. The cell phone number she began contacting me with is: (716) 941-4287. That’s a New York area code. Her email is: [email protected]
Thankfully I was skeptical and destroyed the check after driving to my local police station. I have photos she claims are of herself and her son but I couldn’t say that they are authentic, they could belong to someone innocent. But what else am I supposed to do?
I’m a college student just barely scraping by. Losing this amount would have ruined me, easily. People who try and do these things to people my age are sick.
