Type of a scam Rental

I replied to an AD on prop2go.com for a house for rent. I received a reply back letting me know their situation on why they are renting this property. They sent me another email requesting personal information about myself and family along with a picture. Before doing so we went and viewed the property and it had a sold sign with a realtors name. We contacted the ad again asking about this and they said they just bought the home but their ad said different about them already owning the house. We also contacted the realtor who informed us of the house just being sold and that the owner was not Richard Allen and that this was a scam. They stated they tried to contact the website owner who never answered the phone and they contacted the authorities about this scam.
