Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

This company called my elderly mother stating they were calling regarding her magazine subscription to Guideposts Christian magazine. They asked for her checking account info to take a one time payment of $*** for a years subscription. She gave them the info. The electronic check was done in November 2017, then in December 2017, and again this January 2018. When we went to the bank to find out what the problem was & why they were taking the money each month, it was suggested that we contact the company.

Not only did Guideposts tell me that Publishers Elite is not authorized by them to do business on their behalf, but also that a years subscription is only $*** and hers is not yet due for renewal.

This has required closing the account & opening a new one, which cause my mom to be charged to make new checks. $** may not seem like much to some people, but for those on an extremely limited income like my mom, it is HUGE!!

These people should be ashamed of themselves taking advantage of elderly people this way. I hope the bank is able to recover my mom’s money & that something can be done to this company for flat out lying to people.
