Type of a scam Online Purchase

This company was supposed to ship a dog we purchased. We paid $185 for shipping then a "refundable" $950 deposit for a ventilated shipping crate. The shipping got delayed by 3 days and then while supposedly the dog was in mid air, he told us he wanted more money for travel insurance, thats when we realized it was a scam. The email looked and felt fake, however the site looks real to us. We spoke to him on the phone several times, but he was the only contact, no manager or supervisor. He also would NOT send a photo of the dog while he waited for his "flight" so we could see he was ok.

Once we refused insurance payment, he started rejecting our calls.
