Type of a scam Online Purchase

We received a $100 gift card from our grandmother. She provided the original receipt and when we tried to use the gift card it was rejected. We contacted the store that our grandmother used to purchase. It was purchased at a Ralph’s in Encino. We spoke to the Ralph’s manager and they told us the card was loaded and that the gift card company issued a faulty card. We wanted to make sure that this was accurate so we went to another Ralph’s and we were given the same answer. We first contacted prepaidgiftbalance.com around December 27, 2019 and spoke to a few representatives who told us it is not an issue on their end. We spoke to Ralph’s again and they told us again that the issue was with the gift card company. We spoke with Kristy who advised us to fax over the original receipt, and the front and back of the gift card, which we did. She told us she would get in contact with us as soon as she received the fax. We waited a week and no contact from her whatsoever. We called back on January 9, 2019 and spoke with Cynthia who told us to go back to the store and talk to the manager, but there was no point in doing this because we went twice and nothing was resolved. The situation escalated and we spoke with the supervisor named Steven, who was no help at all. He told us the same thing to go back to Ralph’s, we asked him to to speak with Ralph’s on their end he said there is nothing he can do. What was the point of having us fax the information to them if they were going to tell us to go back to the store again? This company is scamming customers with gift cards. This is how they make their money.
