Type of a scam Home Improvement

This company offers construction loans and residential home construction with a 6 month, supposedly 0% interest rate. Except they will seemingly deliberately delay on their portion of the home construction and then — surprise! — try to tack on a bunch of late fees and additional interest charges when the home isn’t completed in 6 months (when the reason in isn’t is because of their failure to complete their work). In our case, they delayed 5 months in completing the "shell" (frame plus roof) on our house (it was supposed to be done in 8 weeks) and then took 5 months more to complete the exterior siding on the home! Then, they tried to tack on a bunch of "late fees" and also claimed that they were retroactively increasing our interest rate to 10.9%! End of the day, they were demanding $60,000 MORE than the cost of the house in "fees". We sued them and won, but I would not recommend anyone build a home with them. We know 4 other families now who have had similar experiences with them and I wish we had known that BEFORE we hired them to build our home!
