Type of a scam Government Grant

I received message through Messenger from a friend with same name. He asked if I heard about the government grant that assist people with financial needs. He told me that he had received $100,000 that he did not have to pay back. He gave me the name of Thomas Brown to contact and gave me number to text him. I asked if this was legal and he said yes and said that he would not have shared info if it wasn’t. I fell for it and provided some info but no SS number or money sent.
