Type of a scam Debt Collections

A lady called me yesterday who represented to me that I was an agent for service of process for my brother. I explained to her that my brother had passed away 14 years ago, and so I didn’t know what she was talking about. She said that she was out of Washoe County Nevada and was requesting that I make myself personally available at a particular date and time to accept service, as if someone or some people had filed a lawsuit against my brother and needed to have his agent served. I smelled a rat and told her goodbye. Incidentally, my sister received the same phone call from the same outfit at almost the same time I did, and she lives in another state. The caller represented just what I represented above. Needless to say, we are a little shaken up about this, having a complete stranger dredge up our lost brother’s memory, etc.
