On November 5th, I attended an evening event at the Milwaukee Hilton. I parked in the lot adjacent to the hotel located at 630 N. 5th Street. The lot was extremely dark and there was no immediate lighting around the parking meter where I purchased my ticket for the amount of $10.00 and because it was dark, I did not see the notice indicating to leave your parking receipt on the dashboard. When I returned to my car 2-3 hours later I found a $60.00 ticket on my car indicating that I did not leave my parking receipt on the dashboard.
I immediately mailed the parking ticket along with my original receipt to Parking Revenue Recovery, Inc. dispute department located at: PO BOX 80044, Aurora CO 80044. In spite of my sending the receipt to show that I did not park on the lot without paying, on November 6th I was issued a letter stating : "Thank you for your recent communication regarding the PARKING NOTICE described above. The vehicle with this plate number (NVRGVUP) received the PARKING NOTICE, resulting in the BALANCE DUE stated above. Our office has read your appeal and/or dispute and reviewed the documentation provided. The parking lot you used is a private parking lot with clear and prominent signage identifying the parking company, the payment rates and the additional requirements and/or rules for parking on the lot. At the time the notice was issued, the lot attendant was unable to verify prepayment for parking for this vehicle. By not following the posted rules of the lot, the above PARKING NOTICE was generated. The Notice is upheld, as the posted instructions in the parking lot were not properly followed.
WE HAVE BEEN AUTHORIZED TO SETTLE THIS NOTICE FOR $40.00. This reduced amount must be paid within 14 days or the full amount of the Notice will remain due."
