I was contacted by a company called "NNT Technologies". They promised me 950 per week for an Administrative Assistant opening that they have. They promised me a sign on bonus and first month’s advance of 4,571.00 dollars as well. It sounded fishy to me but two days later, a cashier’s check was fedexed to me. From what I understood, a cashiers check is like a money order. You have to have the funds in order to make one out to someone. I took it to my bank and due to the good relationship that I have (HAD) with my bank they instantly cashed it. One week later after I used the money on a deposit for my new apartment, gave some to my mother, and purchased a desktop computer, my credit union contacted me and told me that the routing number on the check was invalid. It was a fake check. I could’ve gone to jail! The company never returned my calls or emails and now I owe my bank all of the money.
