Received text MSG about secret shopper mailed me a check for $2067 said to deposit check keep $367 and buy $1700 in eBay cards scratch off for code take photo and text back images to them and that was suppose to be the money I shopped with for my assignment.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

All addresses, postal and e-mail appear to be assumed addresses. Scammer sends convincing cashier checks upon first look for a secret shopper scam where the instructions say to buy two high value gift cards with a generous fee overage for the secret shopper. There is also a fast turn-around bonus to encourage deposit and purchase before the check clears. Upon closer inspection, the check is counterfeit. Scammer operates primarily through cell phone and text, with fake checks sent through USPS Priority mail or FedEx overnight. Letterhead was stolen from National Insurance which ensured any searching on the business returned a legitimate business.
