I have no student loans. Received an unsolicited call, with recording saying, "this is the National Student Loan Help Center." It asked me to press a number to reach a live person, which I did. The female asked my name and I responded "where are you located?" They asked my name and I said "Sue. Where are you located?" The female hesitated, then responded, "California." I asked for the address and she hung up. I called back (phone # is spoofed – it is not a local, WI call) and recording said I was to receive a $150 reward – press 1 to receive the award, press 2 to be paced on a Do Not Call list. I pressed 2 and the call was disconnected.

I had a student loan with Nelnet starting in 2003. The loan was paid in full by 2015. I receive several calls per day by companies claiming to be the National Student Loan Help Center. When I take the call, they hang up on me when I say that I have already paid off my loans and asked to be take off the cal list. They do not take me off the list though. I have tried not answering the calls and blocking the number. That doesn’t not work either. They just call from a different number. I have tried to call the number back before after not answering the call and it often says it is not a working number. I have tried taking to Nelnet because their name is listed in the recording as having been at fault for properly handdling my loan. While I know that is not the case, I called to see if they could help me find a solution. They said short of changing my number I have had for all these years, the is nothing I can do to stop this harassment. The calls usually come from long distance numbers but recently it is a combination of long distance AND local numbers.
