Type of a scam Online Purchase

My husband booked airline tickets online for May 28th from El Paso, TX to Kahului, HI for 3 adults, 1 way tickets for $1,023. The next day, Friday May 8th, he was called and told tickets need to be changed. When I called the airline to verify a they told me the tickets had not been paid for, however the money is missing from my account. The fraud dept called me on Thursday from my bank and I asked how the money was being paid out to and I was told Alaska Air. Alaska Air was never paid for tickets.
