I was contacted via text message by a recruiting service for Medexus Pharma Inc. for a position I applied for on CareerBuilder.com. I was asked if a I had a google account and to sign up for "Hangouts" for an interview. I went through the process with the typical interview questions and was hired by the person I was chatting with on Hangouts. I was told I got the position and that they were going to pay for the start up cost of my office and that the position pays $16 for one week of training and $28.80 per hour for the remaining hourly wage. I was told that I would be sent a letter of employment, W4, and I-9 to be completed and returned and my check will be at my address within 1-3 business days. I was given instruction to keep all receipts and when funds was available to go to my local merchants to purchase equipment. The check was FedEX the next day for $1,500 and then I was email the Chief finance officer to alert him and the hiring manager that I received the package. I was instructed to mobile deposit the check into my account and it should be available next day. They contacted me 15 minutes later and asked if I had Zelle or cashapp on my phone so I can pay for the products that way and I can wait for my working materials to come in delivery. At this time, I fully suspicious. I contacted the company directly and with employment verification was able to determine the company had no knowledge of my employment.
