Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

After listing an item last week on Craigslist a “customer” emailed wanted me to hold said item for him. He and his wife could not come to see it. Offered $50 extra to hold and someone would pick up the item for them. After realizing it was a scam, I wrote back “cash only”. Thinking this was the end of it. He actually wrote back pleading with me “don’t do this!” So I wrote back, “scammer”…

This week I received a lone cashiers check for $1750 in the mail in a Priority Mail 1-day mailer. (The item I listed was for $350.) Mailer return address was from New York. Check from a bank in Wisconsin (maybe).

People who are desperate for money might fall for this.. sad.
