Type of a scam Employment

I received a Fed Ex envelope in the mail. Inside was a cashiers check for $3,935.00 and a letter. The letter said I had been selected for these positions. I was to deposit the check into my existing account and immediately text or email my supervisor the exact time of my deposit. I would then receive instructions on on my first assignment. I would be paid $450 for each survey and a weekly bonus of $200 was available to me. On next day, I received a text message from the cell phone number that was given on the letter, stating these same instructions. Top notify my supervisor of my exact time of deposit. I have blocked the cell phone number and contacted local authorities.
