Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

This man wanted to buy my boots off of the app "Offer Up". He said he was out of town on business and wanted to secure the purchase by sending a check. He even offered to pay more money. He then notified me that his secretary had accidentally sent me the amount owed to his movers. He wanted me to deposit the money and then get a money order to send the remaining to the movers. He was asking for me to send $1870. He first wanted me to deposit it through my bank app. He then wanted me to use the "cash" app to pay him. He finally told me to mail the check "next day delivery with not signature." I called the company listed on the check and they confirmed it was a fraudulent check. I knew it was a sham, but wanted to let the company know. I did not send any money to this person.
