Type of a scam Debt Collections

They call and mumble the name of the company. The caller does not identify themselves. They seem to have a varying amount of information on the particular person they are trying to contact and "collect a debt" from. My personal experience, they only seemed to have my name and my boyfriend’s cell phone number. They asked for my number, but he would not give it to them, so I’m not sure just how much information of mine they actually have. Other people have said that they had a lot of information about them or a loved one with whom the company was trying to get into contact with. These people, including myself, do not owe any debts. I think they are phishing for social security numbers or credit card information. I believe how they initially gain the information they have is through a website for first time home owners where you are asked to put in some information so that someone may contact you with information about being a first time home owner. Unfortunately, I do not know the name of the website, but this was the only way someone would have tried to contact me on my boyfriend’s cell phone (he filled out the information on a website using my name with his number). I looked the phone number up online and came across the name of the company, but no other real information about the company, and another website where other people who have been contacted by the same number have told their accounts of the scam. http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-888-281-1750#p1089889179623208619
