Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Katherine Smith sent a request to be contacted on my Scentsy website. I responded with how I can help her. I knew it was a scam right away because the grammar was incorrect and she stated she was deaf and could not use a debit or credit card. She said she could send a cashier’s check. A few hours later, she emailed again stating that her boss had mailed her entire paycheck instead of the $400 for the Scentsy items. She said that I should take out $50 for the inconvenience and then send the rest of the money back to her once I received the check and it cleared the bank. The check arrived on October 17 around 1230.

I contacted the bank listed–Northwest Bank and verified it was a fraud check.

Katherine seems to appear like a normal human, she will use some kind of dramatic scenario to make you feel sorry for her. I looked up her address and the house is for sale. I looked up the sender of the check and it is commercial building. Everything about this was fake.
