Mr. Jessie D. Morales was contracted to paint our kitchen cabinets. It was understood that these were brand new cabinets with a low gloss finish. He was to scuff the surface, clean surfaces with TSP, prime, and paint. He took cabinets painted them and did no prep work. The cabinet I witnessed him painting in my house he did not even clean with TSP. I mentioned this to him and he said something about wanting the side of the cabinet to be as smooth as possible and that is why he did not prep or clean it. This did not make sense to me but he was the exper. Within the first 48 hours we could see that the paint was not adhering to surface. He gave us a touchup brush and said they needed to cure. Week later paint still falling off. Two weeks later he’s still telling us they have not cured or the paint is defective. I went to paint manufacturer (Sherwin Williams) and they confirmed that the problem was not with the curing but with the prep of cabinets (i.e. no sanding or priming, etc). Paint was not defective as it adhered well to sanded wood and we showed him the sample. We eventually requested our money back because he was not willing to remove paint and start all over. We ourselves had paint removed and the cabinets were sanded, cleaned and painted again. (The paint he applied just peeled off in sheets.) Paint adhered very well. No problems since. I do not want someone else to have to go through what we did. Months without the use of our kitchen. Lost $1000 because he would not refund our money or answer our calls.
