Rent was lower than average around surrounding area. Used photos of an existing house listing for sale and claimed they didn’t want to sell anymore, but wanted to rent. They claimed to be Christian and wanted to find the “right” tenants. Repeatedly told of how beautiful their home was and to drive by the house and take a look since they claimed to be out-of-state and could not meet in person. They would not do a video call and sent an application via email. After approving the application, they ensured that after a $1000 refundable deposit they would give the keys to the house to move-in. They said after we moved in, they would visit us in person to make sure everything was well maintained. They didn’t want to use a rental company and said they would after a couple months time they would find a manager.
