Super sketch. I don’t even recall applying, and I received a denial email from someone named James T. Verback, who from all I can gather, doesn’t even exist. I’m sorry to hear others had more of a run around, guess I’m lucky I didn’t get the job I didn’t even apply for? Weird stuff, very concerning…

This company may not be real. They have tons of job postings on places like Indeed, Glassdoor, Monster, etc. Some as recent as 2 days ago. Googling the name only comes up with job postings–no website, no location, phone number, email, etc. There was once a website, www.jamilacreativehub.com but google marks it as suspicious and the site returns with a 404 error anyway. There is an address listed on apollo.io, but it leads to a saloon in Seattle, WA, with the google street view capture being from 2019. They are advertising media jobs in Atlanta, GA and who knows where else. They use JobScore for their job application form, probably so no one can get any kind of direct contact info from them.
There also used to be a linkedin page for a creative director of the company, John Verback. The page no longer exists, and searches for John Verback only return the dead linkedin page and obituary/genealogy related sites, so “John Verback” may also not be real.

Company posted a job listing on several job boards, I applied. Heard back weeks later saying I had been shortlisted for the position and to set up an interview. I was told to make an account on https://app.wire.com/ and request someone named Steve Lynn. Steve then accepted and set an interview time. I assumed it would be a phone/video chat but it was strictly text. He asked me questions over the course of an hour and half sometimes not responding for upwards of 20 minutes. Told me the interview was concluded and I would hear back later that day if I were to be offered the position. I heard nothing until the next day when they told me I was hired and would be offered the position if I accepted. I said yes. They then put me in touch with someone else on the https://app.wire.com/ website. I spoke to them and they said they would be my hiring manager. They reviewed the position with me and told me to go to Verizon to purchase an iPhone and set up a 2nd line on my account. I didn’t want to do that so I set up a new account, purchased a phone and left the store. They told me I would be reimbursed with my "start-up funds." The start-up funds were broken down like this:
