Type of a scam Online Purchase

My boyfriend wanted to purchase a siberian husky puppy, we found a lady on craigslist selling one for $200. She told us that she couldnt take of the puppy because her daughter had just died from cancer and she was grieving. We believed because who jokes about their daughter dying from cancer. Apparently our puppy was on its way but we had to pay little amounts of money back to back, talking about the dog needing vaccinations and insurance. We paid about $1,500 and they’re still asking for money. It was clear that we were not going to receive a puppy and that this was a scam.
