Type of a scam Employment

I received a message stating they were looking to hire a work at home candidate for an administrative assistant position. The pay is $20 an hour during training and $25 an hour once training is complete. I was told that I would be sent a check in the mail to purchase all equipment and software from the company’s accredited vendor. Once the check is received, that wanted me to report online for further instructions, and refer me to the vendor that I will be purchasing from.
