I received a text message on Friday, September 14, 2018 from a Mr. Mark Trotter, located in Massachusetts, to the effect that this company had found my resume on the internet and had a possible position for which they thought I might be qualified. I responded and asked questions relevant to the position and was instructed to go to Google Hangouts and contact an individual, Mr. Steven Curtis, North America General Manager, and have a virtual interview with him, which I did. His hangout address was [email protected]

Mr. Curtis explained the position, including the site for moog.com, which is a legitimate business. The interview took about 1 hr, where I acknowledged the job description, pay scale, etc. Then he asked me questions about my skills, and background that would be relevant to this position. The only information I gave, was my address, and the year I graduated from college, which is on my resume.

When we were concluded, he had me stay on for about 20 minutes, while he matched my answers to his requirements. He came on and told me I was a good match, and that I would be hearing from the recruiter, trainer the week of September 15, 2018.

I researched the company, then called their Human Resources department and explained what had happened.

The company HR department explained to me, that they do not communicate through google hangouts, and that they had no pending job openings in Arizona, and that in all likelihood, I was being scammed.

Let this be a warning to all out there.

Be careful, and do not give anyone any pertinent or personally identifiable (like birth dates, social security numbers, bank account info) information over the internet, click on any links in internet correspondence or messaging (which I did not), and do your research.

In addition to this Scam Report, I have also been advised to report this to the Federal Trade Commission.

I have printed out the information from our conversation from google hangouts relating to this scam.

Be Careful.
