My Story

Full Bio On Henderson:
Henderson
DOB 9/28/23
Henderson has been in my house for several weeks now, and he is so smart and follows directions so well. When it’s time to come in from outside and go into his kennel for the night, he goes right in there, knowing that a treat is waiting for him.
We introduced Henderson a few days ago. Today he is being altered (fixed) and will be officially available for adoption.
Backstory on Henderson
A few weeks ago, he and his brother, Carson were see running around Rodeo. I was told he was caught by a good samaritan. In the process of the good samaritan grabbing him from behind, He turned and “bit.”
When I agree to take Carson I did not know his brother existed. The reason was because he was set to “bite quarantine,” at the shelter while Carson was sent to general population and promoted for adoption.
When I went to pick up Carson I found out, Mr Pibb (now Henderson) existed. Nobody really drinks Mr Pibb anyway, So we changed his name.
So Ebarr is known for NOT cherry picking animals, even if its hard work. We do not leave siblings or parents behind. And we most certainly never leave the mom behind, In fact
That’s the first thing that comes out of my mouth when  puppies need to go to rescue…….. Where is the mom? Has the mom been altered? Is the mom in a safe place?
Anyway I knew that day I was gonna go back and get Mr Pibb. Of course because he was a sibling but also because he had a “bite history,” I learned.
There is a law in the state of California that you must disclose when a dog has bitten to potential adopters and adopters. Obviously ethically you should disclose, and now it’s a law. There are rescues operating currently who do not disclose bite history, Which is currently illegal. There is also rescues that adopt out of state to get around disclosure, You don’t have to ask me twice what I think about those groups.
Ethically, finding the proper home, not just any home is the goal. So I read the notes on what the “Bite,” looked like. There was no punction wound, Somewhat ask “How could there be a bite with no puncture”?
Well I was educated that if blood is drawn that is considered a bite even without a puncture wound. How absurd. I’ve been bit so many times I can’t even count, really bit with NO puncture wounds, again…..how absurd!!!!!!.
The wound was described as two paper like cuts on each finger. Lame I know.
Unfortunately what that did was put him in a separate category. We do not make a habit of taking  dogs that have a bite history, however this one just burned me up.
First of all he’s a baby at five months old, Secondly 2 paper like cuts, Are you flipping serious…. I got 2 paper cuts at work today and I didn’t turn anybody in.
Anyway i’ve had him for about a week now and he has not shown any aggression… I have absolutely grabbed him from behind, I have grabbed him from front, And i’ve turned them around when he needed to be turned around. He just wags his little knob of a tail and acts like his goofy self.
I am not advocating for people too adopt  dogs or not adopt  dogs with a bite history, I am merely saying a paper cut is not a bite. But again, the reality of that label, can be death. And, what that did cause is a situation where his adoption will be much more difficult. I questioned if he would ever make it out of the shelter. Well obviously I was unwilling to find out so I picked him up.
I would love for you to meet Henderson, And see everything we see in him with full disclosure.
