The real estate agent claimed to be an individual who worked for Genesis Investment Properties out of Temecula, CA.

The real estate agent could be reached at extension 259 at the phone number on the Genesis Investment Properites website.

I was provided with a sales agreement from Genesis, which contained an offer price and lots of official looking terms. A representative from Sigma Partners (another fake company that is part of the scame) provided me with several documents detailing the sale of the timeshare, including title insurance. I was then given a form with instructions for making a wire transfer of US $5250 to a bank in Mexico with to an individual. This made me suspicious and when I asked them why this was they simply said he was an attorney in Mexico who would file the necessary paperwork for the sale of the membership.

When pressed, the did provide me with an official looking photo ID, which proved to a be fake. It didn’t have matching ID numbers on the front/back and the id numbers it did have corresponded to women whereas the individual represented was supposed to be man.

I did ask for a real estate license and was provided with a license number of that I was able to confirm belonged to another individual who was not affiliated with the scam.

When I went to my bank (PNC) the also noticed that the wire transfer beneficiary was an individual and declined to perform the wire transfer. I called Sigma and told him the bank’s reaction and he was quite upset and indicated that he could sue the bank for blocking a business transaction.

I also verified that the same email address was used to setup internet domains for both Genesis Investment Properties and Sigma Partners.
