Type of a scam Utility

A person called our home phone and stated that they were contracted by AT&T to offer us reduced rates on our phone bill. They had information about our bill to include price and how many lines we have and said they drop some charges and reduce our price. They then said they would need to transfer us to someone else and we would have to answer some questions "YES" or "NO" and then our service would be changed, I called AT&T and was told that they do not contract with companies to offer services for them. They felt this was a Scam.
