Scammer called a local manufacturing business and said they were with First Energy/The Illuminating Company. Scammer told the business that if they did not pay their unpaid balance their electric would be turned off by 12pm. Scammer said they sent legal notices—business asked scammer to verify their utility account, and scammer said they had limited access. Scammer told business to call another number to check on their account balance. Business called number on their electric bill, not the scammer’s provided call back number, and the legitimate First Energy told the business their account balance was actually at zero.
