Type of a scam Government Grant

My cousin texted me and said he applied by messenger to get a business grant, to start up a business and gave me the info to contact him because he was told he got 25,000.00 , since I was also starting up a business I thought I would also contact this guy. My cousin then said his facebook account got hacked, but the guy is still messaging him. I gave this guy my birthdate, where I live , email address, how much was my rent, and what I make a month. he has sent me back a refrence number, and since I looked info up on BBB site and saw there was another scam that was similar, I thought I better report this, better safe than sorry.
