Type of a scam Nigerian/Foreign Money Exchange

I received a letter via fax from someone claiming to be Darren Lund, an estate attorney with Fasken Law based in Toronto, Ontario. The fax came in at my former place of employment, and it got e-mailed to me. He claimed to represent someone with my surname that had died over 9 years ago with no living heirs. He then goes into how Canadian law states that all "insured permanent policies" must be turned over to the government after 10 years, and pitches the idea of using my info to claim the money and split it three ways (45% me/45% him/10% charity).
