I answered a local number on my cell and received a recording that said "Hi this is Josh from the Customer Service Department" and then he said something about being selected for or winning a vacation of some kind. I hung up immediately. I am on the do not call list.

I was expecting a call from someone I have not spoken to often and could not hear very well so I said "Yes" only to instantly regret saying it as the follow up voice sounded automated. Since I recognized the number, I hung up immediately without really even paying attention to what she said.

I received the "Can you hear me?" phone scam. The caller or automated recording started with: "Hi my name is John and I’m calling from the Customer Service Department…….Can you hear me?" I’ve researched that if you reply "yes" they store your response and use it for fraudulent charges that they say you’ve consented to. The fact that they have the "yes" response is used against you if you try to dispute the charges. I hung up immediately without responding to the question.

The caller seems to be an automated/fake voice.

I hung up the phone as I realized that this was most likely a ‘Can you hear me?’ phone scam.
