Person left a message and stated that $561.89 would be charged to my card and to please give them a call back. Once, I called back the person on the line said that it was for "computer services" but never gave a business name. I asked him which card he was talking about and he stated Visa. I asked for the last 4 of the card number and the person stated that he "could not give that information out". So right then I knew that it must be a scam. I also contacted my visa card and told them of what happened and they told me there was no charge for that amount. I will continue to watch my statements to ensure that I never get a bogus charge on my credit card.

Total money lost $900

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a telephone call from a computer service stating I was eligible for a refund of 350.00 for services I did not receive in 2015. I believe they hacked into One bit service I contracted with in 2015 in which One bit went out of business. They use three different numbers to contact me..1 513-290-6645,760-657-4545 and 415-237-7979. All individuals had an eastern indian accent. David contacted me and stated I needed to fill out paperwork first in order to obtain the refund. He then transferred me to Ronald in accounting to complete the transaction. Ronald had me give him my last 4 numbers of my checking account number and told me to pull up my online account. He then stated Wells Fargo would transfer $350. directly into my checking account. The page from my account looked authentic. Instead of transferring 350 the transfer was $1,350. I told him of the mistake. Ronald then stated I would need to pay taxes on all of the money since it was over $500.00 and I needed to pay back Wells Fargo $1000.00. He stated he would loose his job and asked for my help and would give me 100.00 of his pay for my trouble.Ronald then told me to go out and purchase $900.00 worth of I Tunes card and call him when I come back with them. This did not make sense to me , but I was concerned about owing Wells Fargo the money and was not thinking straight. I am a very truthful person and too trusting. Ronald then scanned in all the information from the cards. All this time he had access to my computer and stated they where working on correcting / updating items that the previous service did not. He showed me the areas on the computer and told me to keep the computer on all night. He said he had authorization for 6 of the cards but needed to authorization for the rest of the cards. The next day I contacted him on my lunch break …He said I needed to call him back when I was in front of my computer. When calling him back he said the 900.00 dollars worth of cards were not activated and I needed to go and pick up 900.00 more worth of cards. I admit, I yelled at him this is a scam. He said no it is not and don’t try and shut off your computer or it will crash. He then said he would call me back on his private office line to explain. I waited for a minute and then called the number 513-290-6645 and a gentleman answered with no accent. He said let me ask you is someone trying to give you a refund for 350. I said yes. He proceeded to tell me this is a scam and he is using my number. There is some way you can use a number. He also said that the person has threatened him and I should call the police. Ronald try several time to reach me but I did not answer. The following night David called and since I have blocked all numbers. I did report it to the police and want everyone to know about this scam. It has cost me 900 plus my computer repair and blocking/ changing all my bank accounts. All I can say is beware and what goes around comes around. Karma will come back to bite them.
