Type of a scam Online Purchase

I was reading a news story about millions of dollars of military spending portrayed as violations of the emoluments clause of the US Constitution by the Trump administration. A clickable web advertisement appeared showing a background check for yourself. I wanted to find out if there were still others using my identity to buy houses, etc. Also I wanted to see if the service was good to check others background. The ad listed $1 background check. When I ran the report the amount began increasing. I wound up paying $15.95 in fees. The report included all sorts of people I did not know. Misspellings of my name. Etc. It was worthless. Now these people have my credit info. Always check with ScamPulse.com before making purchase.

This is the type of company that have hidden fees that are only disclosed in their terms and conditions (which we all know that no one reads). When you agree to get a report on someone for only $*** but what they don’t visibly tell you is that you are signing up for a monthly subscription and getting charged $*** for each PDF and $*** a month after the 7 day free trial ends.

When you call customer service to get a refund they treat you terribly and refuse to give refunds.

Type of a scam Credit Cards

I did a people search and the site asked me for a *$ charge to my credit card. I checked the box and submitted my card and within 2 min I received a call from my bank saying there was a *$ charge and mutiple ***$ charges. I disputed it with my bank and they cancelled my card. I called checkpeople at 866 592-7163 and they said I agreed to the other charges by checking the agreement on the 1$ charge. They than told me there was a ***$ charge for a yearly service. I told them I did not agree to this and they said they would give me a 25% discount to sign off. I said NO and they said they would give me a 50% discount to sign off. I said NO than they said they were cancelling my charges. Be careful they will take your money. Thank You Chase Bank for calling me or I would not have known.

Type of a scam Online Purchase

As reported by another person in August, 2017, I experienced the exact same situation. I signed up to use this service for $1.00. Nowhere in the "offer" was a mention that this was a trial period. As I proceeded through the registration process, I was expecting to see some indication of the type of "plans" that I could sign up for, but nothing appeared. Then, suddenly, I get a charge of $44.85 to my account.

I attempted to get back into my account to find he number to call to cancel and kept getting an error message stating that the email and password did not match. I requested a password reset TWICE and 3 hours later I still have not received an email to do that. Then I called to cancel informing them that I did not subscribe to a plan because there were none offered to which I was told that it clearly stated that it was only a 5-day trial (never disclosed on the site) and that the "plan’s" charges were identified in the Terms of Service. I also rechecked the terms of service and nowhere on this site is any dollar amount shown.

This service is totally bogus. Even if it were for real, the information you get back — which is NOTHING — isn’t even worth $1.

It’s called "check people.com" I wanted a background check on someone and googled it and clicked on this company. They claim it’s free and then charge $1 for fake information. About 7 days later I got a charge on my debit card for $44.85 I did not sign up for membership nor give permission for this charge I’ve now looked into this company and found endless stories with the exact same problem. It’s a scam and I will do whatever it takes to take them down and get my money back.

I applied for reverse phone no info from checkpeople.com. They were supposed to send me a pdf of the information requested. Cost was to be $1.00.

Instead they charged me $1, and tried to charge me $1.95 three times, and next $39.85 three times! That didn’t work, since they exceeded my very low credit card limit of $1, set so they could not over charging me if attempted.

I tried to review the terms of service and the link would not open. I was not made aware of any extra charges, their web page said $1 was all I would be charged.

They therefor violated the purchase agreement by trying to over charge me and not provide the pdf file requested. This is called fraud.

I consequently cancelled my credit card, and filed a fraud complaint with my card holder.

I also sent them a complaint, and cancelled my account, and asked they reverse the $1 charge to the credit card.

They want you to call to cancel so they can get your phone and address info. No dice, I will not call and provide personal info.
