I’ve had multiple people claim that they are collecting census information and these “census takers” will bang on random residents doors “who seem to be home” to ask me information about other residents in my building. They will usually linger outside the residents door for over 20 minutes who seem to be home just to supposedly ask information about another resident. I have called the police multiple times. And this is still happening. I should not be bothered by these people since I’ve done my job as a citizen already these people are fraud so please be aware.

I received two calls this week, one from a guy calling himself Don and another Charles. One was a job offer if I was interested and the next caller said they had received my application for a numerator position with the Census Bureau. They left job codes to reference.

I figured this is some type of scam since I have not applied anywhere lately.

I applied months ago for Census positions. I received a phone call and email stating that a position was available. However, I notified the individual that I no longer lived at the address listed on my application. The manager stated that he would update my application and I would receive a phone call for positions closer to my area. One week later today I received a phone call stating a position was available and requesting further information as to if I was interested in the position. I was told the job was for Office Clerk and be located at least 10 miles away from my home. This wasn’t a problem however considering I live less than that from the previous address I thought it strange. The manager stated that I was comfortable provide my banking information and social security number. I also was told a background check may take two weeks to complete. I questioned this and the pay rate which was extremely low. The individual stated that they would have to put on list for other positions. Soon after I read a bulletin from the Better Business Bureau indicating that Census workers would never ask for personal information. I decided to report this incident for others. Finally, the caller ID showed Census Bureau indicating that these individuals may have been spoofing.
