Total money lost $99

Type of a scam Utility

I got a call explaining that my power was about to be cut off due to my payment not being processed in a timely manner and that I needed to make a payment of $198.17 to prevent a power outage. If they were to cut my power it would be up to 3 to 5 business days before it would be restored. I made a payment of $99 and then told them I had to check with Duke Power. It is a SCAM!!!

Robo call saying my power would be turned off in 30 minutes if I don’t call immediately to settle past due payment. Knowing I am NOT behind on Idaho Power bill, I called. FYI – Scammers had foreign accents….middle eastern. They insisted that I am 3 months behind and must pay now. I refused. I was transferred to a "supervisor" who still insisted. They called me at my business and had my business address, but my Idaho Power account is only on my home. Then they revealed that they also have my home address and account number. "Do I have proof of my last payment?" Of course I do!! Then they told me I would have to go to my local Idaho Power office to resolve this. I suppose they though this would be too much trouble and that I couldn’t achieve this within the 30 minute ultimatum.

I immediatly notified Idaho Power, and they have been inundated with calls today for this same scam! I told the scammer I refuse to do business over the phone…..but they did tell me an amount I owed. I would say this constitutes "ASKING" for money.

I hope you can get this on the news channels so everyone will be aware. AND prosecute these thieves
