Lady addressed me by first name and I forgot and said the word "yes."

So they have recorded this for their benefit. Just happened at 9:30 a.m. today, May 2, 2017.

Not aware of any financial transactions yet.

Earlier today i received a phone call from this phone number and they were asking if I wanted to donate for breast cancer. I did ask for the business name and they told it to me but I did not write it down immediately and therefore I don’t remember it. Now I am thinking that they just wanted me to answer Yes so that they can use it to scam me in other ways. They are suppose to send me an envelope for the $20 donation that I agreed to. But, after looking up the phone number on the white pages, reverse phone, it tells me that this phone number is a high risk for scams.

The call was from a local number. The lady on the other end asked if my name was John. I replied that she must have the wrong number. At that time she went into her spiel about breast cancer. At some point I said "uh-huh". I could hear the same sound repeated back to me as if it had just been recorded. At that point I figured it was a phishing scam and I hung up.

The phone rang and I was in the basement with an old phone that doesn’t show Caller ID, so I answered. The lady sounded like an old friend and she said "(my name)", I said "yes". There was a brief pause and then she said "Can you hear me?" Without thinking I automatically said "yes". Then the call hung up. I knew immediately it was a scam and my heart sunk. My housemate was upstairs and saw that the Caller ID was Breast Cancer. I reported it to the police non-emergency number and now to you. They have since called back two more times on two different lines. We did not answer.
