Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I signed up to be a Mystery Shopper with Kroger. A few weeks later, I got a check for $1,995.00 in a USPS Priority envelope. The sender was Bay Area Accounting Solutions. The only thing in the envelope was what I have attached. The instructions were to purchase 4 Wal-Mart gift cards ($400.00 each) at the nearest store selling Wal-Mart gift cards and report my shopping experience to [email protected] The remaining $395.00 was to be my commission. There is no company name or contact on the enclosures. The day after receiving the envelope, I received a text message at 6am from 510-291-4826 asking me to confirm receipt of the envelope. It was clear from the text that English was not this person’s first language. I responded with, "What is your name? And please give me the full legal name of your company." This was over 24 hours ago and I have not had any response to my text.

I have not and will not cash this check; I just want to warn others about this obvious scam.
