Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I found a personal assistant job using Craigslist for “Austin Thomas.” He responded back to me with a few follow up questions along with my home address and references. He put me straight to work picking up FedEx envelopes. He eventually explained that he needed me to book him for exhibitions and he was going to be sending me money orders in the mail within the next few days. He needed a proof of deposit sent to him so that he could keep it for his records. I took the money orders to be verified by the post office and they confiscated them. I contacted “Austin Thomas” back and told him I’m out and I’m not working with him anymore.
